KTM Bikes – It is all about Speed and Power

The Austrian bike maker, KTM AG is known for the powerful, speedy sports bikes it makes and sells all over the world, including India. KTM stands for Kronreif & Trunkenpolz Mattighofen. A company with a legacy of more than 80 years of existence, the KTM AG is a well-respected name in the motorcycle markets across the globe. Though they are engaged in diversified business interests, it is the motorcycle brand, which caught the fancy of people. KTM is synonymous with the sports motorcycles. Befittingly, the motorcycle business continues to be the flagship business of the KTM group. KTM is well known for the off road motorcycles it produces, even though it has expanded its business into the field of street motorcycle production as well as developing a sports car, in recent times.

In 2007, the Indian automobile company, Bajaj Auto Limited acquired some stake in the KTM AG. Currently, the Indian company holds 47% of the stake in the company. Hence, the KTM bikes in India are often introduced by Bajaj Auto Limited.

Though there are many models of KTM available across the world, in India, only four models are available. Two of them were launched quite recently. Here is a look at these popular bikes from the KTM Stable.

KTM Duke 200 – Duke 200 is the most popular bike of KTM in India. This 200 cc sports bike is a rage among the youngsters and many of them could be seen zipping past us on a Duke. The price of this bike starts from INR 138055/- (ex-showroom). Duke 200 is loaded with attractive features including alloy wheels, tubeless tire, wide tires, good suspension, big tank fuel and disc brakes and so on. This model is available in three attractive colours – White, Orange, and Black.

KTM Duke 390 ABS – KTM Duke 390 comes at an Ex-Showroom price starting at INR 180934/- It is a 373 cc bike, which is quite powerful and faster than the Duke 200. Some of the features that add to the utility of the bike include turn indicators, engine temperature gauge, gear indicator, clock, average riding time, shift RPM indicator, average riding speed, average fuel consumption, distance to dot and the distance to next and so on.

Apart from these two models, KTM introduced another set of bikes – RC 200 and RC 390 – quite recently. It is too early to make a call on these bikes in detail, but it is sure that they will appeal to the bike lovers across the nation.

It is very clear that when it comes to sports bikes, there are very few bikes, which are more popular than the KTM bikes.
